Minexpo
The Minexpo Africa is an annual trade fair for the mining and processing industry, held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi. It was launched in 2014 by the Expo Group UAE, a renowned organizer of trade fairs. Kenya is rich in mineral resources. Although the country is primarily known for its production of fluorspar, soda ash, and mineral sands, substantial amounts of gold, coal, iron, copper, and gemstones have also been discovered and mined. Compared to other economic sectors, mining in Kenya is relatively small, yet it offers significant potential for growth and development. This trade fair showcases cutting-edge technologies for the mining and processing industry. It focuses on introducing the latest technologies and machinery in the fields of mineral extraction, earthmoving, safety equipment, and much more. Exhibitors present a wide range of products and services, including mining machinery and technology, rock drilling equipment, safety equipment, IT solutions for mining planning, material handling, as well as plants and equipment for mineral processing. The KICC, the venue, is a significant and strategically located conference center, providing an ideal setting for such an internationally important exhibition. Minexpo Africa attracts numerous professional visitors who use the fair to discover new products and services, learn about current trends, and establish business relationships. Minexpo Africa makes a substantial contribution to the advancement of the mining sector in the East African region, a key sector driving growth in terms of infrastructure and economy. The Minexpo Africa takes place annually, and therefore for the 9th time previsibly in June 2025 in Nairobi.

Rehabilitation is the process of returning land disturbed by mining activities to a degree of its former state. Rehabilitation of mined areas stops when the initial pioneer grass is established, signed off and bush clamps begin to form. Restoration is the process of ecological recovery of a site to a natural landscape and habitat that provides ecosystem services capable of supporting human, wildlife, and plant communities. Initiative Success Following successful rehabilitation of the Mukurumudzi Dam embankment, Tailings Storage Facility walls and other areas impacted during project construction, this program is now focused on the mined-out areas of South and Central Dunes.
